Sitagliptin
Sitagliptin is an antidiabetic and blood sugar-lowering agent from the group of gliptins, which is used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus. The effects are based on the inhibition of the enzyme dipeptidyl peptidase-4, which is responsible for the breakdown of incretins.
Phenylephrine
Phenylephrine is a vasoconstrictor from the group of sympathomimetics used internally and in the form of decongestant nasal sprays for the short-term treatment of rhinitis, allergic and vasomotor rhinitis, sinusitis and in the form of eye drops for conjunctivitis. It acts as an agonist at the α1-adrenoceptor. Phenylephrine is structurally identical to adrenaline except for a missing 4-hydroxy group.
Pregabalin
The active substance Pregabalin is used to treat generalised anxiety disorder, neuropathic pain and as an add-on therapy for focal epileptic seizures. Pregabalin belongs to the group of active substances known as antiepileptics and blocks voltage-dependent calcium channels in the central and peripheral nervous system. It binds specifically to certain subunits of these calcium channels and in this way inhibits the calcium-mediated release of nerve messengers (neurotransmitters).
Atorvastatin
The active ingredient atorvastatin belongs to the statins - a group of active ingredients that can lower elevated cholesterol levels. Atorvastatin is a competitive HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor. HMG-CoA reductase acts as a catalyst in the reduction of 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A (HMG-CoA) to mevalonate, which is a limiting step in hepatic cholesterol synthesis. By lowering cholesterol synthesis, the liver cells increase the number of LDL receptors on the cell surface, so that LDL uptake into the liver cell is increased and thus the LDL level in the blood is reduced. |
